Bobcats Sweep Terra, Start OCCAC Play 4-0
Bobcats Complete the Sweep of Terra State
The Bobcats played two games on a chilly but sunny Sunday afternoon at Cisar Field, defeating Terra State twice more by final scores of 15-3 and 11-0. Tylor Wolfe had himself a monster day at the plate finishing 5-6 with a triple and two home runs, while he scored 5 runs and drove in 6 more. Rontrell Greer had his best day as a Bobcat as he finished with 3 hits and drove in 6 as well.
Game 1
Tyler Schlick looked dominant once again as he threw all 4 innings that were played for the Bobcats. He finished with the W after having allowed 2 runs (none earned) on 2 hits while striking out 6 and walking 5. Schlick was handed a 6-0 lead after the first inning and the Bobcats continued to pile on from there adding to the lead in every inning they got to hit. They piled on plating another run in the second and 4 more in both the 3rd and 4th to finish the game early with the 12+ run lead. Wolfe led the offense with 3 hits in game 1 including a 2 RBI triple. Domonic Prevesk and Rontrell Greer both had 2 hits. Prevesk drove in 2 runs while Greer drove in a staggering 6 runs. Greer and Alec Kolenic each got to slam the homerun hammer as they both hit their first long balls in a Bobcat uniform. Kolenic's came to start the 3rd when he smoked a 3-2 pitch up the middle on a line that hovered about 11 feet off the ground as it sizzled over the centerfield wall. Greer went deep a few batters later, hitting a no doubter high over the trees behind the fence in right field. The Bobcats win game 1 by a final of 15-2.
Game 2
This game was similar to the second game the Bobcats played against Terra State at Force Sports Park earlier this week as Bobcat starter Noah Brite and Titans starter Orlando Lloyd matched each other 0 for 0 for the first 3 innings. That is, until Tylor Wolfe got a second crack at the crafty Lloyd, who mixed up deliveries and threw a plethora of off speed pitches at the Bobcats, in the bottom of the 4th. Wolfe got a breaking ball that hung up at the belt to start the inning and sent it screaming through the trees behind left field to break the 0-0 tie and get the Bobcat bats rolling again. The Bobcats would score 2 more runs in the inning as they adjusted to Lloyd and began driving balls into left field. Aaron Miranda, Caleb Atwood, and Tyler Lathrop would all have hard hit singles in the inning to help stretch the Bobcat lead to 3-0. Noah Brite would go out in the 5th and do what he had done all day, retire the Titans in order. Brite was simply dominant in his first start at Cisar Field striking out 8 Titans and facing just 2 batters above the minimum. Working with a mid 80s fastball and a breaking ball that swept across the plate, Brite kept the Titans hitters guessing all afternoon. He would finish with an impressive line of 0 runs allowed on 1 hit and 0 walks with 8 strikeouts in his 5 innings pitched. Working efficiently, Brite threw only 68 pitches in the 5 innings, 48 of those pitches for strikes. The Bobcats would extend their 3 run lead, and ultimately finish the game, with 8 runs in the 5th. Tylor Wolfe would send another ball high over the wall in left for his 2nd home run, and 5th hit, on the day. Caleb Atwood would have his second single in as many innings, and Tyler Lathrop would follow with a big two RBI double to continue the scoring. The ball game would come to an end when Matt Blanchard singled in two runs and another came around to score on a Titans throwing error to make the game 11-0 Bobcats.
With the series sweep the Bobcats improved their record to 7-4 overall, 4-0 in conference play. They will be back in action at Cisar Field in a non nonference series this Tuesday the 22nd when they take on Penn State Beaver.
