Cats take 1 of 3 on the weekend
The BSC Bobcat Softball team took 1 of 3 games this past weekend dropping game 1 on Friday to Ursuline College 14-5, then game 2 on Saturday 1-0, before topping Butler Community 10-3 in game 3.
Game 1
The Bobcats put up a valiant effort against Ursuline College ultimately dropping the contest 14-5. After a long weekend in Michigan in which the Bobcats struggled to put the ball in play, they made a significant adjustment and only struck out 3 times on the day. Kamia Pou, Rylee Croucher, and Halle Williams all had 2 hits on the day. One of Williams's hits went for a 2 RBI double to the wall in center field. Sommer Bourne finished 1 for 3 with a towering solo home run.
Game 2
A pitchers duel between Rylee Croucher and Payton regal for LCCC led to a 1-0 LCCC victory to start the round robin double header Saturday at Avon High School. Croucher was magnificent in the circle as she tossed 6 innings of 3 hit ball. The lone run coming in the bottom of the 6th off a lead off double, a questionable fair ball call on a bunt attempt, and a good bit of baserunning on the part of LCCC to score on a two hop ground ball out. Croucher finished having thrown all 6 innings allowing just the 1 run on 3 hits and no walks while striking out 6 Commodore hitters. The Bobcat bats just couldn't get anything going at the plate as they failed to score for the first game this fall. Autumn Fuller finished with 2 singles and was the only Bobcat with multiple hits. Croucher added a single to her great performance in the circle.
Game 3
The Bobcat bats burst into life for game 3 on the weekend as they plated 5 runs in the top of the first and 3 more in the top of the second inning to take a commanding 8-0 against the Butler Pioneers. Brooklyn Gramse had the big hit in the first inning driving a ball into the left center field gap with the bases loaded to score all three runners and put the Bobcats up 5-0. Gramse, Kamia Pou, Autumn Fuller, Abby Spalding, Sommer Bourne, and Abby Southern all had multiple hits in game 3. Abby Spalding added her first triple of the fall and Sommer Bourne ripped another ball over the wall for her second home run in as many days. Abby Southern threw for the Bobcats and earned the win allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 6 in the time shortened 5 inning game.
The Bobcats next scheduled action comes Saturday October 8th as they will be traveling to Akron to take on the Zips of the University of Akron.
