Cats Come Out Roaring to 85-68 Victory
Solon,OH- The Bryant & Stratton Men's basketball team started their season this Saturday November 5th with a bang as they topped the Schoolcraft Ocelots 85-68 to start their season 1-0. Leading the Bobcat offense was newcomer Jalyn Barnes who finished the contest with 23 points. Behind Barnes were Sophomores Larry Reynolds with 20 points, Tareeq Roper with 18 points, and Perry Fullum with 10 points. The Cat offense was clicking on all cylinders as their high energy, run and gun, style of offense paired with a smothering man to man defense proved to be too much for Schoolcraft. Schoolcraft finished the 1st half with a 1 point lead as a 3 point basket from the corner out of the hand of Jalyn Barnes that would have given the Bobcats the lead was ruled to have come after the buzzer had sounded, ending the half with the Bobcats trailing 28-27. The Bobcats wouldn't trail long however, as they came roaring out of the break to take a commanding 16 point lead on the back of a 34-13 run across the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half. Larry Reynolds (18), Tareeq Roper (10), and Jalyn Barnes (13), all scored in double figures in the second half while Ross Stofflet, who led all scorers with 28 points on the night, was the only Ocelot to score more than 4 points in the second half for Schoolcraft. Other notables from this game for the Bobcats were Jalyn Terrell who pulled down 6 rebounds for the Cats, and Freshman Ethan Sokolowski who came off the bench to score 9 points and grab 6 boards. The Bobcats will have some time to sit on this win as their next action won't come for over a week until they travel to Macomb to take on the Monarchs in a non-conference region XII matchup.
