MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Bryant & Stratton College – Ohio continued their red-hot start to the season with a pair of convincing victories over Finger Lakes Community College, sweeping the doubleheader by scores of 20-8 and 4-1. The Bobcats, now 7-0 to start the 2025 campaign, are making the most of their Myrtle Beach trip with just one day remaining before heading back home.
Game 1: Offensive Explosion Leads Bobcats to 20-8 Victory
Game 1 was a display of offensive firepower as Bryant & Stratton-Ohio erupted for 13 runs in a wild fourth inning, ultimately taking a commanding 20-8 win. Freshman Shortstop Gavin McLane was the star of the game, going 3-for-4 with 5 RBIs, including his second home run of the season. McLane's performance was a key factor in a Bobcats' offense that couldn't be stopped, with plenty of other players contributing.
Kalayo Shaw also played a key role, adding a home run of his own and finishing 2-for-3 with 4 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Dylan Wimbs, who went 2-for-3, brought in 3 RBIs and scored 3 times, including once on a perfectly executed squeeze bunt by Niko Reach. Hudson Gerken had a solid day as well, hitting two doubles while going 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs.
On the mound, Conor Stefan battled through some challenging weather conditions but earned his second win of the season, throwing a solid 5 innings while allowing 8 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits, with 6 strikeouts.
Game 2: Russo Dominates as Bobcats Seal Sweep
In the nightcap, it was the pitching staff's turn to shine as sophomore Sam Russo delivered a dominant performance on the mound. Russo tossed 6 innings of one-run ball, striking out 11 while scattering just 3 hits to earn his second win of the season. Freshman Marcus Henry finished the game with a clean inning of relief, striking out 2 to earn his first career save and seal the 4-1 victory.
Offensively, the Bobcats were led by sophomore Brody Puchmajer, who powered the team's offense with two home runs and all 4 RBIs in the game. Puchmajer's bat continues to impress, and his timely homers were more than enough to back Russo's superb pitching performance. McLane added another solid game at the plate, going 2-for-2 and continuing his hot streak to start the season.
