Offense Erupts As Bobcats Trounce Eagles
The Bobcats traveled to Wright State's Campus in Dayton, OH to play the Clark State Eagles. The weather was chilly, but the bats were hot as the Bobcats racked up 27 hits and 29 runs en route to defeating the Eagles by finals of 19-3 and 10-1. Domonic Prevesk and Jackson Homage both had 5 hits on the day. Prevesk finished 5 for 6 with his fifth and sixth triples for the season. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Homage finished 5 for 8, he scored 6 times and drove in 2 more.
Game 1
Jagger Jefferis took the ball for the Bobcats in game 1 and earned the win. Jagger allowed 3 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks across his 5 inning complete game striking out 9 Eagles along the way. Jefferis's job was made easy by the offense as they plated multiple runs in each of the last 4 innings of play. In the 2nd inning a walk and 2 hit by pitches would load the bases up with nobody out and the Bobcats would take advantage. A sacrifice fly by Blake Fuller would put the first run of the game on the board. A triple by Dom Prevesk would clear the bases and make the game 3-0 bobcats going into the 3rd. A quick ground out and 2 punchouts in the top of the inning from Jefferis would put his guys right back at the plate to try to add to the lead and they would do just that adding 5 more runs. Two more free runners in the form of a walk and an error would set the table for the Bobcats once again. Back to back singles by Rontrell Greer and Logan Wunderle would stretch the lead to 6-0. An RBI groundout by Homage would make it 7-0, and a Blake Fuller double followed by a Dom Prevesk single would tack on one more to make the score 8-0 Bobcats moving to the 4th. The Eagles would get one back in the bottom of the 3rd, but the Bobcat bats could not be contained in this one as they would break the game open with 7 more in the top of the 4th. 5 hits in the inning highlighted by a Tylor Wolfe triple and a Riley Day 3 run homerun would balloon the Bobcats lead to 13-1. 4 two out runs in the top of the 5th scored on another Blake Fuller double and a Drew Firchau double would make the Bobcat lead 19-1. Two runs in the bottom of the inning would make the final 19-3 Bobcats.
Game 2
The Bobcats would continue the offensive onslaught in game 2 recording 10 more runs on 14 hits. Matt Blanchard wouldn't need much help however as he allowed just 1 run (none earned) on one hit and 3 walks across his 6 innings. He struck out 8 Eagles hitters, tossing 54 of his 100 pitchers for strikes. Austen Price would come out of the Bobcat pen to work another clean 7th frame. The Bobcats would get on the board in the top of the 2nd inning when Jackson Homage had yet another base hit to get the action started. He was driven in by Dom Prevesk along with Rontrell Greer, who walked to lead off the inning, to make the Bobcat lead 2-0. In the top of the 4th two hit batters and another Homage base hit would load the bases with nobody out yet again and the Bobcats would take advantage plating 4 in the inning. A Riley Day groundout followed by a John Costella single would clear the bases and make the score now 6-0 Bobcats. The Eagles would get on the board in the bottom of the 5th as Blanchard would coast through the first 2 outs quickly, before a defensive miscue would continue the inning and they would record their first, and only, hit of the ball game to score. Another Prevesk triple in the top of the 6th would get the Bobcat offense rolling again. Singles by Costella, Wolfe and Ryan Horstman would drive in 2 more runs to make the score now 8-1 Bobcats. Horstman would scamper home from third on a pass ball to make the score 9-1. Singles by Homage, Alec Kolenic, and Dom Prevesk would add one more run to make the Bobcat lead 10-1 in the top of the 7th. Austen Price would enter and make quick work of the Eagles in the bottom of the inning to end the ball game 10-1.
The pair of wins puts the reigning OCCAC champion Bobcats atop the conference with a record of 6-0 and are the 7th and 8th wins in a row as the Bobcats have been rolling for the last 2 weeks. They will be back in action this Friday against Edison State in another OCCAC double header.
