Bobcats Win On Day Walk Off
The Bobcats walked it off on the Lakers in their 7-4 game 1 victory. The game was tied at 4 in the bottom of the seventh with two outs when Riley Day hit a towering three run homerun over the trees in left field. Game two would look like a replay as Day would step to the plate 30 minutes later and hit yet another three run bomb that flew over the trees behind the fence in left field to put the Bobcats up in the 1st. Jagger Jefferis would look stellar in his first start of the season surrendering 1 hit while striking out 11 through 4 innings to help the Bobcats to the landslide 14-0 win in game 2.
Game 1
The Bobcats took the lead early as Bryce Daniels hit a 1 out double into centerfield and was driven home on John Costella's single later in the inning. Costella would come around to score on a double to left off the bat of Dylan Cutler to make the score 2-0 Bobcats at the end of the first. The Bobcats would add to their lead in the third on a solo home run by Torrey Roper in the bottom of the second inning. But, the Lakers would answer right back in the top of the third with a two run home run of their own off the bat of Charter to make the game 3-2 Bobcats. The Lakers played a little small ball in the 4th to scratch out another run off of Bobcat starter Christian Boyles as they ran a suicide squeeze to tie the ball game up at 3-3. The Bobcats wouldn't let the tie stand for long as Jackson Homage doubled in the 4th to score Cutler to take the lead back for the Bobcats. Boyles' day would be done after the 4th, he would exit after another solid four inning outing allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 7. Justin Simons would come out of the Bobcat bullpen and throw the last three innings. The Lakers would tie the game with a single run in the 5th, but that was all they could manage off Simons who struck out 6 Lakers batters while throwing 31 of 38 pitches on the day for strikes. Tough two out at bats by Gabe Morgan and John Costella which drew walks would set the stage for the late inning heroics of Riley Day. Riley, who had a big 3 run double earlier this week in the win against Owens, would deliver once again and send the Bobcats into a frenzy as he lifted the ball over the wall for the 7-4 win.
Game 2
Jagger Jefferis got the ball in game two and would work around a single in the top of the first to retire the side on three strikeouts. That 1 out single would prove to be the only hit Jefferis would surrender on the day. Riley Day got things going again in the bottom of the inning with a towering blast over the left field fence that would score Morgan and Costella giving Jefferis and the Bobcats a 3-0 lead to work with going into the second. Jefferis would induce a groundout to start the second, walk the next Laker batter, and then strike out the next 8 batters he faced in order before turning the ball over to Craig Wilson. The Bobcats would expand the three run lead on a Jackson Homage 2rbi single in the 3rd before exploding for 9 runs in the 4th. The monster inning would start with an Aaron Miranda hustle double, another pair of free passes to Morgan and Costella, all driven home by a Day 3rbi double off the wall in center. Dylan Cutler and Dominic Daring would each single scoring Day, yet another Jackson Homage double would drive in Cutler, and another Torrey Roper homerun over the wall in left field would drive in Homage and Daring to make the score 13-0 Bobcats. Singles by Miranda, Jaylin Simmons, and Brad Wolfe would tack on one more putting the Bobcats up 14-0. Craig Wilson would enter for Jefferis in the 5th and work a clean inning allowing one hit while striking out a pair.
Riley Day led the Bobcats offensively on the day with 8rbis and 3 runs scored on 3 hits, a double and two home runs. Dylan Cutler had 4 hits including an rbi double, Dominic Daring had three hits with 2 doubles, and Torrey Roper hit 2 homeruns and drove in 4. On the mound Christian Boyles got the win in game 1 striking out 7, while Justin Simons earned the 3 inning save striking out 6. In game 2 Jagger Jefferis got the win striking out 11. The Bobcats are back in action at noon tomorrow with two more games slated against Mid Michigan.
