Bobcats hand Owens first loss in midweek split
The Bobcats traveled to Owens Community College on Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader with the Express in which they split the day 9-5 Bobcats, and 4-0 Express. Riley Day led the Bobcats at the plate going 5 for 7 with 2 doubles, 5 RBIs, and scoring a run.
Brad Wolfe earned his second win of the season working the last three innings of game 1 surrendering 2 runs off 1 hit,1 walk, while striking out 6.
Game 1
The Bobcats got off the bus ready to go in this one as singles by Tylor Wolfe and John Costella followed by a double off the wall in left field by Riley Day spotted the Bobcats a 2-0 lead right out of the gates. Adam Wibert got the start for B&SC and threw another gem. The righty from Youngstown, OH would work 4 innings surrendering 3 runs on 5 hits and no walks while striking out 6. The Bobcats would open the ball game up with 7 runs in the top of the 5th. A single by Christian Boyles followed by a free pass and one of three John Costella hit by pitches would load the bases for the red hot Day who would come through again with a 3rbi double to center field to put the Bobcats back on top 5-3. Singles by Logan Wunderle and Jackson Homage would drive in Day from second and put them on the bases for a Torrey Roper 3 run bomb over the wall in left to make the score Bobcats 9 Express 3. Brad Wolfe would enter the game in the 4th and throw the last 3 innings surrendering 2 earned runs on 5 hits while striking out 6. The Bobcats hand the Express their first loss this season 9-5.
Game 2
The Bobcat bats were never able to get going game two as they only managed 4 hits off of the Express pitching duo of Grant Harris and Kolson Egnor combined with stellar Owens defense. The Bobcats four hits came off of a pair of singles by Riley Day and Dominic Daring. Kade Compeau started his first game for the Bobcats surrendering 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 1 in his 3.2 innings pitched. Justin Simons worked 1.1 out of the pen before turning the game over to Jagger Jefferis who worked a clean sixth with 2 strikeouts. The Bobcats drop this one 4-0. The midweek split moves the team's record to 2-4 on the season, they are back in action Saturday and Sunday with a non conference 4 game home series Vs the Mid Michigan Lakers. Those games are open to spectators at Cisar Field in Solon Community Park and will be live streamed on our youtube channel.
