MBK Win Big Over Bryant and Stratton

The Tri-C Men's Basketball team earned a much-needed VICTORY over the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton on 31 Jan 2024 at the Metro gym. The Tops cruised to a 59-48 half time lead.  Donovan Coffey brought energy and toughness with his hustle, rebounding, and timely steals.

The Tops were led by Howard 'Jayden' Jefferies double/double 20 pts and 11 rebounds. Mikael 'Meek' Hill had his absolute best game as a Top. Meek 19 pts was sensational, he connected on 5/6 from deep and 7/9 overall. During one-time out Coach Nixon insisted the team, "let Meek eat." Nixon coached the team and put the Tops back into the winning column. Others in double figures: Devonte Greene (16) and Manny Hill with 13pts  and nine rebounds.

The Tops roared out of the half-time with a quick 10-2 run and never looked back. The lead ballooned to as many as 28. A double block by Manny & Greene set the crowd a blaze and forced the Bobcats to wave the white flag.

Tri-C moves to 16-6 on the season and 5-3 in the OCCAC but still remain in 5th place desperately trying to secure a Top 3 finish to get to the regional tournament for the second straight year.  They will travel to Clark State for a Saturday 1 pm start and then The Tops return to their home  floor Wednesday (7 Feb) at 6 pm at Metro Gym when they square off against the Commodores of Lorain. Admission is free come support the TOPS!!!  

Also at halftime of the Lorain game, our very own Gerry Nemeth will conduct a Jeopardy style Super Bowl Trivia contest for prizes!  Be there and get a ticket to see if you are drawn as one of the participants (hint all participants get a prize!)
