Weekend Wrap-Up: Women's Softball Goes 5-1

The Tri-C Women's Softball Team went 5-1 in three doubleheaders, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  They are now 13-10 overall and 9-3 in the OCCAC good for 2nd place behind league leading Hocking who sits at 10-1.

 

Friday vs. Bryant and Stratton (Game 1) W 9-0

The Tops cruised to a 5 inning 9-0 victory over Bryant and Stratton behind the great pitching of Hallie Mullett who went 5 innings and gave up only 2 hits.  At the plate, Reis Johnson, Nicole Goode and Maddie Brockman all had multiple hits for the Tops.  McKenna Miller had 3 RBI's and Johnson and Mikayla Rash each had 2.

Friday vs. Bryant and Stratton (Game 2) W 12-3

The Tops took an early lead and never looked back.  Once again a great pitching outing by Lyndsey Baglia, who went all 6 innings, scattering 5 hits and striking out 6.  Offensively, the Tops were back at it as Cecilia Stephens and Danielle Wright each had three hit games and Nicole Goode had a two hit game.  Wright had 3 RBI's on the day while Reis Johnson and Goode each had 2.

Saturday vs. Owens (Game 1) W 8-0

Hallie Mullett was dominant on the mound for the Tops going the full 7 innings striking out 12!  At the plate, Nicole Goode and Abbie Gayner each had multiple hits. Goode had two RBI's.

Saturday vs. Owens (Game 2) W 13-5

Lyndsey Baglia got the start and the win for the Tops as they won in a mercy rule.  Baglia only gave up 3 hits on the day while striking out 5. At the dish, Maddie Brockman had 4 hits, Reis Johnson collected 3 and Nicole Goode, Olivia Lopez and Abbie Gaynor all had 2.  Johnson and Gaynor each had three RBI's.

Sunday vs. Bryant and Stratton (Game 1)  L 13-5

The Tops fell to Bryant and Stratton in a tough game.  Bryant and Stratton jumped out to a 3-1 lead before the Tops came back to take a 5-3 lead in the Top of the 4th but the Bobcats scored 3 in the bottom of the 4th and then broke it open in the 6th with 6 runs to get the 13-5 6 inning win.  Cecilia Stephens, Maddie Brockman and Abby Gaynor all had multiple hit games with Stephens hitting a homerun and collecting 3 RBI's.

Sunday vs. Bryant and Stratton (Game 2) W 18-13

After a disappointing first game the Tops finished the weekend on a high note in a wild back and forth offensive affair highlighted by Maddie Brockman's grand slam homerun.  Maelly McGowen picked up the win on the mound for the Tops by going 2 1/3 innings only giving up 1 run.  The offensive show was led by Cecilia Stephens and May Sheller each with three hits on the day.  Reis Johnson, Abbie Gaynor, Mikayla Rash and Mckenna Miller each had two hits.  Johnson drove in 5 runs and Brockman drove in 4, with Rash and Miller driving in two each.
