Bobcats Wrap Up Regular Season With Sweep of Tri-C
All around strong performances on the mound and from the dish make for a successful day against the Triceratops
SOLON, OH- The Bobcats were looking to finish the regular season strong, and they did just that as the Cats hosted Cuyahoga Community College for a two game series Saturday, April 29 at Solon Community Park.
Coming off a 13 run team effort in game two against Hocking on Thursday, Bryant & Stratton picked up right where they left off in the opening game against Tri-C. In the first two innings, the Cats scored 10 unanswered runs.
Ethan Hyme, who has been swinging a hot bat recently, connected with a ball that was launched over the left field wall to give the Cats a 3-0 advantage after the first inning. In the second inning, Ryan Horstman hit an RBI single that skipped past the Triceratops shortstop, and scoring on the play was Brendan Hamlin. The Cats weren't finished in the inning.
At the dish, it was Hyme's turn yet again, and he delivered. He would hit a double that found the gap in left field. Horstman would score on the play. Evan Jarvis was due for a solid hit, and that is exactly what occurred. Jarvis doubled to right field, Hyme and Jackson Micheels scored. The score was 7-0 but the Bobcats were not done in the inning. Dom Prevesk drove in Hyme, and shortly after Tyler Staub hit a two run RBI single. Scoring on the play was Prevesk and Seth Lahocki.
The Triceratops would add a run on the board to make the score 10-1 after three complete innings. Another run wouldn't be added until the sixth inning as the Triceratops trimmed the Bobcats lead 10-2.
In the bottom of the sixth, Hyme answered the call yet again, and launched his second home run of the day. Micheels scored and the game would end 12-2 after six innings.
"Finding my pitch." Hyme said when asked about his consistency at the plate recently. "Not going down too early or too late in the count, and getting comfortable."
Hyme finished the first game of the day going 3-for-3 with two home runs and six RBI. Micheels went 4-for-4 with two doubles. Horstman, Jarvis, Prevesk and Staub each added at least one RBI.
From the mound, Matthew Blanchard got the starting nod and pitched the complete six innings. He allowed just four hits and struck out two.
In the second game, the Bobcats shut down the Triceratops offensively and allowed just three hits.
The scoring got started with a two run Seth Lahocki RBI single. Prevesk and Jarvis scored. The Cats had a 2-0 lead after three complete innings. The Cats would get loud as Brendan Hamlin smashed a solo home run over the left field wall. Afterwards in the same inning, Hyme drew an RBI walk and Staub scored making the score 4-0. The scoring would come to a close after a Jarvis RBI single, which scored Micheels.
As a team, the Bobcats had nine hits. The pitching was dominant, Logan Moore got the start and struck out four batters and allowed just a pair of hits in five innings of work. Nick Feasel shut it down and struck out two batters in the final two innings.
