Cats Split Day Series Against Hocking
Bobcats snap out of small skid and take down Hocking in game 2
SOLON, OH- The Bobcats hosted the Hocking Hawks in a two game series at Solon Community Park, April 27. The Cats fell in game one but came from behind in game 2. Ethan Hyme registered a pair of homers on the day.
In game 1, the Bobcats got out to a one run lead due to a Blake Fuller fielder's choice, which would score Ryan Horstman. In the third inning, Hocking added three runs, and took a 3-1 lead. The Bobcats responded with a Horstman steal of third, and he would score on the same play as the Hawks third baseman was unable to handle the throw.
Bryant & Stratton would add just one more run. In the bottom of the sixth, Ethan Hyme launched a ball over the left field fence and into the trees. Hocking would hold the lead and win game 1 5-3.
On the mound, Nick Feasel got the start and struck out 6 batters in 4 innings. Evan Morris and Chris Kross came on in relief and struck out one batter each.
At the dish, Jackson Micheels and Brendan Hamlin each had a hit. Horstman recorded two hits.
In game 2, the Bats woke up for the Bobcats. Hyme would open the scoring for the Cats and picked up right where he left off, and would homer, and scoring would be Dom Prevesk. The ball game was tied 2-2 until the top of the third, where the Hawks added a run, and led 4-3.
Bryant & Stratton would score the final 4th and 5th innings and never looked back. Brendan Hamlin would score Seth Lahocki on a single, and Payton Davis electrified the offense with an RBI single of his own. Jackson Micheels hit one over the fence and gave the Cats a commanding 7-3 lead. Bases were eventually loaded in the bottom of the fifth. Hamlin would get hit by a pitch, which led to a Brayden Kendall single. Davis would double to left field, and the Cats lead would grow 11-3. Prevesk got hit by a pitch which resulted in a run. Hyme drew a walk, and the Cats run-ruled the Hawks, 13-3.
On the bump, Mark Luke and Tyler Staub combined for 4 strikeouts, and allowed just 4 hits.
The Bobcats will wrap up the regular season at home, against Cuyahoga Community College Saturday, April 29.
