Hudson Cornett Announces Transfer to D1 Bellarmine
Cornett is the second Bobcat to announce his D1 move
SOLON, OH- Within the last two weeks, Bryant & Stratton has had two pitchers commit to division one Bellarmine University, located in Louisville Kentucky. Noah Brite was the first to commit, now Hudson Cornett has announced via Twitter he will be transferring to Bellarmine.
"Excited to announce I will be transferring to play division 1 baseball and continue my academics." Cornett said. "I thank God for the position He's put me in and everyone that played a role in helping me reach my goals!"
On the season, Cornett has been rock solid on the mound. He has 37 innings pitched under his belt. In those 37 innings, he has registered a 4.62 ERA and has struck out 30 batters, which is good enough for top three on the team.
In a recent start against Clark State on April 15, Cornett pitched a complete seven inning game and recorded a pair of strikeouts. The Cats won that matchup by a score of 16-5.
Bobcats Coach Jake Plata feels fortunate to work with a player like Cornett.
"Hudson is a special human, I am happy our paths have crossed." Plata shared. "His ability to communicate and stay focused allows him to be successful on and off the ball field. Came in as a two-way player, with focus on pitching only sophomore year. He was able to secure multiple scholarship opportunities."
Now, after he finishes a strong season, Cornett will look forward and focus on his big move to the Derby City.
