Cats bounce back in second game of double header vs Edison Community College
Offensive execution key to the Bobcats victory in second game.
SOLON, OH- The Bryant & Stratton Bobcats were able to split a two game, Sunday series against the Chargers from Edison Community College at Solon Community Park, Sunday April 2.
In the first game of April for the Bobcats, they came up shot against the Chargers by a score of 9-3. In that contest, in the first inning offensive production came swiftly for each team, the game was knotted up at 2 innings of play. The Bobcats responded in the bottom half of the first thanks to a Evan Jarvis double which scored Ryan Horstman. Shortly after, Domonic Prevesk grounded out to the pitcher, but Ethan Hyme was able to score on the play. In the third, the Cats took a one run lead after Hyme regisered an RBI, which scored Jackson Micheels. Bobcats held a 3-2 lead after 6 complete innings
The Chargers got production from their power hitters, as they scored two runs in the in the 5th inning followed by five runs in the 7th inning, pulling away from the Bobcats and taking the victory in game one.
As a team, the Cats registered 7 hits. On the mound, Noah Brite got the start, and struck out 7 batters and allowed 5 hits in 5.2 innings of work. Evan Morris came on in reielf and allowed 3 hits.
The second game the Bobcats came out with energy and intensity, as they took care of the Chargers 13-3 after 5 innings.
In the second contest, it was similar to game 1 in the early going, as it was tied 1-1 after the first complete inning. After the Chargers held a 2-1 lead after in the top of the second, the Cats kept their foot on the gas and didn't let up. Bryant & Stratton scored 10 runs total in innings two and three. Horstman got the momentum going with a two run RBI double. Brendan Hamiln and Ryker Beaty scored on the play. In the same inning, Micheels blasted a ball over the fence and into the trees in right field at Solon Community Park, scoring Horstman. After two innings, the Cats led 5-2.
After Edison went scoreless in the top of the third inning, the Cats had a six run inning. Prevesk carried the momentum over with a solo home run. Beaty would follow up with an RBI single. Hamlin continued his strong play with a 2 RBI single, scoring Beaty and Brayden Kendall. Hyme would hit a sacrafice fly out to deep center field, and score Hamlin. The Cats were not finished in the inning. Jarvis got some air under a ball to left field. He would fly out, but would score Horstman.
In the top of the fifth, the Chargers would get their final run of the day, making the score 11-3 midway through the fifth inning. Prevesk put the final nail in the coffin, as he hit a two run RBI double to left center field. Jarvis and Blake Fuller would score the final runs of the game.
As a team, the Bobcats had 12 big hits. Horstman would go 2-3 from the plate with two RBI and a walk. He would also score three runs. Micheels, Jarvis, Hamlin and Beaty would also have multiple RBI as well.
On the mound, Hudson Cornett got the call and struck out a pair, and allowed six hits. He would get the win in 5 innings of work.
