Strong pitching catapults Bobcats in series sweep with University of Northwestern Ohio
Bobcats get two wins and have won five straight
SOLON, Ohio- In a two game, one day series with the Racers from University of Northwestern Ohio, Bryant & Stratton got production on the mound from Logan Moore in game one. Moore led the Cats in game one, with a 4-2 victory over the Racers at Solon Community Park on Saturday, March 28.
In game one, Domonic Prevesk got the Bobcats going early in the bottom of the first inning. Prevesk hit a sacrafice fly to center field, which scored Ryan Horstman. In the second innning, Ryker Beaty hit a home run, making the score 2-0 through two innings. In the bottom of the third, the Cats offense continued to produce runs, as this time it was Ethan Hyme with a double, Jackson Micheels would score, and the Bobcats would be up 3-0 after four complete innings.
The Racers would tack on 2 runs in the top of the fifth, making the score 3-2. Bryant & Stratton would respond and add another run in the bottom of the fifth, as Tyler Staub knocked in Ethan Hyme, and close out the scoring 4-2
On the bump, Logan Moore allowed just 5 hits in 6.0 innings pitched. Moore would also strike out 5 batters and earn the victory. In the top of the 7th inning, Brandan Hamlin came on in relief and shut down the Racers, as he struck out three straight batters to earn the save.
From the plate, Micheels went 3-for-4 with a double, Hyme, Staub and Beaty registered one RBI each.
In game two, the elite pitching continued, as Evan Morris got the starting nod, and struck out two, allowed just one hit in 4.0 innings pitched. Prevesk came on in relief and also struck out a pair of batters in 1.0 inning pitched. The Cats took the final game of the day by a score of 11-0 in 5.0 innings.
Offensivley, Evan Jarvis caught fire, going 3-for-3 on the day, with two home runs and 5 RBI. Jarvis opened the scoring with a single which scored Micheels and Horstman. The dominate offense continued into the second inning, as Micheels would hit a double and score Hamlin. The Bobcats kept up the hot bats, Jarvis ripped a two-run home run over the fence. After just three innings, the Cats had a commanding 6-0 lead. The Bobcats would add five more runs the following inning, making the final score 11-0.
As a team, Bryant & Stratton had 10 hits. Hamlin went 3-for-3 and three scores. Horstman would go 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Micheels went 1-3, scored two runs and knocked in an RBI. Brayden Kendall gave the Bobcats an offensive boost, he also had 2 RBI and scored once.
Currently on a five game winning streak, the Bobcats will travel to Baldwin Wallace on Thursday, then host Edison Community College on Saturday, April 1.
