Bobcats Produce 17 runs in Series Finale Vs Macomb
The Bryant and Stratton Bobcats get plenty of production in series home opener, as they take two of three games from visiting Macomb Community College.
After going 4-5 in their annual season opener in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats were victorious in two games of a three game series against the Macomb Monarchs, from Warren, Michigan. The home opener took place over two days at the Solon Community Park from Thursday, March 16, to Friday.
In the series, the Bobcats offense exploded for 29 total runs throughout the three game series with 17 runs in the series finale as they defeated the Monarchs 17-2 in five innings.
Their second victory of the series came prior to the 17-run outburst. Bryant & Stratton defeated Macomb by a slim 8-7 victory. In the close victory, Jackson Micheels, infielder, contributed with two home runs and 3 RBI, going 3-4 from the plate. Sawyer Bryner was another offensive key for the Bobcats in the narrow victory, as he collected 2 RBI and one run. On the hill, Matthew Blanchard struck out nine batters, allowed just two hits, and three earned runs in 5 innings of work. Relief pitcher Noah Brite struck out one in two innings.
In the second 17-run game by the Bobcats, they continued to get wealthy production from Micheels. He knocked in 4 RBI and hit his third home run of the series over the left field wall. As mentioned, the Bobcats were firing on all cylinders offensivley in their 17-run game. They produced 14 hits as a team in total, with one run in the first inning, five runs in the second, and nine runs in the bottom half of the third. They closed out their highly productive offensive evening with two more runs in the fourth. On the mound, Mark Luke was productive through three total innings. Luke had allowed just three hits and struck out six batters. Logan Moore came on and continued the consistency by allowing just one hit in his two innings pitched.
The Bobcats will now set their sights and travel to Malone University, before coming back home and hosting Hocking with a double header slated to take place Saturday, March 25.
